Psychosocial assessment of patients with chronic pain

The main object of this study is to evaluate the psychological status chronic pain patients (CPP) and describe characteristics frequency disorders CPP. Two hundred sixty-three with complaints longer than 1 year fifty healthy volunteers were included in study. Patients cancer not included. Turkish version Symptom Checklist-90 Revised (SCL- 90-R) was used for assessment participants. CPP divided into 5 subgroups regarding their painful regions: Headache, cervical or upper extremity pain, axial radicular back lower diffuse pain. Global severity index (GSI) subscales SCL-90-R analyzed. In CPP, GSI almost all subscale scores significantly higher control group. Headache had worse symptoms other female males. 24.7% moderate 14.8% severe symptoms. While intensity a correlation increased symptoms, level education age weak negative SCL- 90-R scores. are convenient have phycological half degree can be serious some them. Thus, treatment necessitates multidisciplinary approach.
